Oil on canvas 32 x 30in (81.3 x 73.2 x 2cm)

An enchanting oil painting of a figure and her barn owl amidst the swirling colours and leaves of Autumn. The title comes from the poem ‘Tell me not here, it needs not saying’ by A.E. Housman.

Tell me not here, it needs not saying,
What tune the enchantress plays
In aftermaths of soft September
Or under blanching mays,
For she and I were long acquainted
And I knew all her ways.

On russet floors, by waters idle,
The pine lets fall its cone;
The cuckoo shouts all day at nothing
In leafy dells alone;
And traveller’s joy beguiles in autumn
Hearts that have lost their own.

The picture has been painted using high quality oil paints on a hand-stretched triple primed canvas. The painting continues around the sides of the canvas and it comes with appropriate fixings ready to hang straight onto your wall.

A coat of Gamvar varnish has been applied to protect the painted surface from dust and UV light. The work is signed on the front and a catalogued certificate of authenticity is attached to the back. The artwork will carefully packaged and sent fully insured via a tracked courier.
